CDOT plans traffic holds in Glenwood Canyon on Thursday

The Colorado Department of Transportation will have traffic holds in both directions on Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 28.

Helicopter operations will fly utility supplies above the roadway to steep slopes in the canyon, prompting the traffic holds. Supplies will be used to replace several electricity poles in the canyon, and operations will begin at 9 a.m.

On Wednesday, July 27, and Thursday, July 28, there will be a short right lane westbound closure at mile point 122 for equipment staging from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Thursday, a westbound Grizzly Creek rest area ramp closure will begin at 8 a.m. in order to stage necessary equipment for helicopter operations.
