CDOT to close lanes on I-70 near Georgetown


CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will begin replacing concrete median barrier along Interstate 70 on Georgetown Hill on Wednesday. This operation begins an extensive improvement project between the Bakerville area and Empire Junction (U.S. 40) that includes rotomilling and asphalt paving, installation of new guardrails, wire rope safety fencing, bridge rails and striping. Work also involves replacing bridge expansion joints and culvert repairs. Barrier replacement begins on Wednesday April 20. Drivers can expect left lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-70 on Georgetown Hill during the following days/hours: — Wednesday and Thursday, April 20-21, 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. — April 24 – May 15, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Daytime operations, including rotomilling and paving, begin in mid-May.The entire project is scheduled for completion in September 2005. Kiewit Western Company of Littleton, Colorado, is the contractor for the $5.2 million project.
