CDOT to hold Highway 9 public meeting

SUMMIT COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will hold a public hearing 4-6:30 p.m. April 7 to solicit comment about its “preferred alternative” for improvements to Highway 9 between Frisco and Breckenridge.

The meeting will be in the Summit High School cafeteria.

CDOT has been working on an environmental impact statement for the highway to determine what would be the best way to improve traffic flow and safety between the two towns.

The preferred alternative would involve four-laning the highway from Frisco to Breckenridge and installing narrow medians and shoulders to reduce the impact to the environment.

Part of this project, building a roundabout at Main Street and North Park Avenue in Breckenridge and making improvements to the intersection at South Park Avenue and Main Street, will begin this summer.

It is being coordinated with the planned Highway 9 “swap” that will relocate the state highway from Main Street to Park Avenue this spring.
