Celebs, athletes play at Copper for good cause

COPPER MOUNTAIN – The stars are out this weekend at Copper for the Pro Celebrity Union benefitting The Summit Foundation.The event begins today with the Union’s Kick-off Party at the Storm King Lounge with stand-up from T Rexx and music by DJ Soonami. $10 tickets can be purchased at the door. Saturday the pros and celebrities compete in a pro/amateur rail-sliding session in Eagle Jib Park, then they’ll head over to Copper’s Nastar course. At 3 p.m “E.R.” star Erik Palladino will perform with his band Hearing Red at the Storm King Lounge. Saturday night will begin with fireworks followed by the Hollywood Poker Texas Hold ‘Em Celebrity Challenge poker tournament beginning at 8 p.m. at Jack’s. After the tournament there will be live music by Brian Vander Ark, lead singer of The Verve Pipe. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Copper Guest Services locations. Sunday wraps up the event with the Union Amateur Superpipe Comp at noon and the Pabst Blue Ribbon Pro Pipe Jam at 2 p.m. -both in the Main Vein Superpipe visible from the Burning Stones Plaza. Hearing Red will perform again at 3 p.m. at the Storm King Lounge.
