Summit County, CO Colorado
BRECKENRIDGE ” The community is invited to view plans this week for the future development of the gondola lot and surrounding properties in Breckenridge.
People will have the opportunity to offer comments about the Gondola Lots Master Plan at the open house that will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Town Council Chambers. The plans include land owned by Vail Resorts and the Town of Breckenridge and will likely have a combination of residential and possibly lodging uses, commercial uses, skier services, parking structures, Riverwalk improvements and possibly a historical train park, according to Town officials.
Recently, a representative of DTJ Design presented to the concepts to Breckenridge Town Council. Of the two ideas, “Extend the Grid” which resembles the current downtown area and the “Grand Hotel” concept of an iconic hotel like those of the state’s history, the council preferred the latter.
A Client Review Team consisting of representatives of Vail Resorts and the Town met about half a dozen times with DTJ Design this year to develop design drivers and review concepts. In the end, the group focused on the two presented to council at the beginning of April.
The public’s comments from the open house about the concepts will be brought back to the council. Currently, the designs are still in preliminary stages and construction is at least three years out, Vail Resorts officials said.
For more information about the open house, contact Chris Neubecker, senior planner with the Town’s Community Development Department, 453-3189 or firstname.lastname@example.org
