Child found safe; babysitter taken to hospital for evaluation

AVON – An Amber Alert helped authorities safely find a babysitter and an 18-month-old boy who went missing Wednesday.The boy, whose name was not being released, was taken by the babysitter from Avon without the parents’ consent, Avon police spokeswoman Jacquie Halburnt said in a statement.Police searched for the boy and the sitter for about three hours before asking the Colorado Bureau of Investigations to issue the alert.An FBI agent traveling between Denver and Rifle spotted the babysitter’s vehicle and notified police. After authorities stopped the vehicle in Vail, the boy was reunited with his parents and the babysitter was taken to Vail Valley Medical Center for evaluation.
