Children invited to free ceramic tile workshop today

Throughout 2010 and 2011, dozens of community members and businesses donated their time, energy and money to help bring Engine No. 9 back to Summit County, where the locomotive once pulled trains carrying food, mail and passengers for 54 years. The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance now needs help creating ceramic tiles to decorate the Engine No. 9 donor wall at the Rotary Snowplow Park. Children of all ages are invited to take part in a free workshop to decorate tiles with train themes in celebration of the homecoming of Engine No. 9. During the workshop, kids will learn all about the history of the railroad through photos, stories and artifacts. This free workshop is set for today from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Fuqua Livery Stable in the Breckenridge Arts District (110 E. Washington Ave.). A snack will be provided. RSVP to Larissa O’Neil at or (970) 453-9767 x101. Space is limited.
