Christian Bale loses low-profile celeb status with recent incident

For a hugely talented, A-List star, Christian Bale usually keeps a low profile. After seeing him star as Batman in The Dark Knight, I left the movie feeling curious about him and his life, since I never hear about him beyond acting. Well, I think my curiosity opened a can of worms for the actor. Although his movie is box-office gold (it made a record $158.3 in its opening weekend), he hasnt been so lucky in his personal life. On Sunday, the married actor, whos starred in such films as American Psycho and The Machinist, was arrested in London for allegedly assaulting his mother, Jenny, and sister, Sharon, at Londons Dorchester Hotel. Sources say that Christian pushed his mother during a family dispute. After the incident, Jenny called to report her son to the police. Christian, who was in town for a screening of the movie, responded by voluntarily going to the police station to cooperate and assist the police with the allegations. He was questioned for four hours before being released without any charges made against him by the police. In England, it is policy to arrest a suspect before questioning him about a possible crime. Its unclear what will come of these allegations, and unfortunately we wont know until September, when Christian is required to report back to police to follow up with the investigation. And when it rains, it pours. In addition to these shocking allegations made against him by his own family members, Bale is also getting a bad rap on set. While filming Terminator 4 in New Mexico last Friday, Bale went ballistic on a director for messing up a shot. According to TMZ, the actor revealed a bad temper and even told the director that he would kick his ass, among other inappropriate remarks. Bad day or allergic to all the sudden publicity? Only time will tell! In more positive news, there has been a lot of Oscar talk for the late Heath Ledgers impressive role as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

It was very surprising when actress Salma Hayek, 40, announced in March 2007 that she was pregnant and engaged when nobody was aware that she even had a boyfriend. Even more shocking was that her fiancee was French billionaire, Francois-Henri Pinault, 44, the CEO of luxury goods firm PPR, which owns brands Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci. It looks like she can say goodbye to designer freebies. The couple announced last Friday that they have ended their 16-month engagement. The former couple welcomed beautiful daughter, Valentina Paloma, last September.

Megastar-couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who are more famous for their kids than their careers, welcomed twins, Vivienne and Knox, on July 12 in their home of the month, France. The couple already have two girls and two boys, making it a total of six kids under the age of seven. Its a good thing they can afford all those nannies. Another big Hollywood couple is adding to their family. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are giving daughter, Violet, 2, a sibling. The couple have yet to confirm the news, but Garners stomach is doing all the talking. Maybe this will put all those divorce rumors to rest for a while.

Has the world forgiven Tom Cruise for his bizarre behavior and crazy talk enough to support a Top Gun sequel? According to The Sun UK, a script outline has been written, but it all depends on securing Cruise to come back as Maverick. Im not sure he can still pull off those aviators.Deirdre Shattuck resides in Breckenridge and maintains her enthusiasm for celebrity gossip even while living in the mountains.
