Cirque Series Trail Run makes CO debut at A-Basin on July 29
Always wanted to run nearly 2,300 vertical feet to the top of Arapahoe Basin? This Saturday is your chance.
July 29 marks the Colorado debut of the Cirque Series Trail Run when it comes to 10,780 vertical feet at A-Basin. The series, launched in Utah by professional skier Julian Carr, is known for dastardly courses with tons of vertical and the A-Basin premiere is no different. Runners cover 8.2 miles from the base area to the top of Little Lenawee Peak — roughly where the prayer flags are located on the hike to North Pole from the East Wall — and back, passing West Zuma Cornice along the way. The day also features a barbecue and live music by Sublime cover band 40 oz. to Freedom from noon to 3 p.m., plus free chairlift rides on Black Mountain Express from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Registration for the race is still open online for $45. Check-in and day-of registration begins at 9 a.m. at the A-frame in the base village. Racing begins at 11 a.m. To sign up, see the “calendar” tab at ArapahoeBasin.com.
