CMC’s Common Reader Program

All staff, faculty members, students, and Summit County readers are encouraged to read Natural Capitalism: Creating the Next Industrial Revolution, by Paul Hawken, Amory Lovins, and L. Hunter Lovins.

Because students and teachers have heavy course requirements and busy schedules, we plan to read just Chapter 1, and of course you are welcome to read the whole book if you’d like.

All of CMC’s Common Readers this year deal with the theme of environmental sustainability. Natural Capitalism is a seminal text in the global movement to develop solutions to protect and enhance natural and human capital for the future.

The authors are founders of the Rocky Mountain Institute, located in Snowmass and Boulder. This local connection will give us a chance to plan field trips and a culminating event, with a representative from the Institute to visit our campus in the Spring of 2009.
