Cole earns music scholarship

SUMMIT COUNTY – The Alpenglow Chamber Music Festival awarded Lauren Cole a $1,500 Alpenglow Music Scholarship. It is the music festival’s first scholarship award, which supports a graduating Summit High School senior who plans to major in music in college. Cole, a violinist, received the award at Summit High School’s annual scholarship awards ceremony Monday.

“Lauren meets the three important characteristics of every accomplished musician: a very special gift of musical talent, a heartfelt passion to play great music and a healthy discipline to bring this passion to fruition,” said Alpenglow board member Ann Brewster. “Lauren has been studying violin for 13 years and has won first place in state competitions in eight of those years. She has played at numerous events around Summit County, finds time to teach violin and also to play piano, for which she has received four first places in state competitions. She plans to study for a double-major in music and business.”

The scholarship was made possible by the support of numerous individuals associated with Alpenglow Chamber Music Festival, supporters of chamber music in the county and the Raven Golf Club.
