FRISCO – Colorado Attorney General John Suthers will stop in Summit County this week to meet with voters in his bid for re-election. The gathering will take place at 4 p.m., Wednesday at Tuscato Ristorante Italiano, 307 Main St., Frisco.

Suthers, a Republican, is unopposed in the primary elections now under way. He will face Democrat Stan Garnett in the general election in November.

Suthers was one of 21 state attorneys general to challenge the new health care reform law, specifically, its provision requiring Americans to purchase health insurance.

Suthers has served as Colorado’s attorney general since 2005. He has also served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado, for which he was nominated by President George W. Bush in 2001. Suthers headed the Colorado Department of Corrections under Gov. Bill Owens and spent two terms as the district attorney for the Fourth Judicial District, in El Paso County.
