Colo. energy rebate program sparks high interest

DENVER (AP) – Interest is so intense in a program making $18 million in rebates available to Coloradans for energy-saving appliances and home improvements that the website to make reservations has been overwhelmed at times.

About 10,000 rebates were reserved Monday through the Recharge Colorado program. It was the first day rebates could be reserved and there was already a wait list for tankless water heaters.

The federal stimulus funds are expected to be enough for about 75,000 rebates for such appliances as dishwashers, washing machines, refrigerators and hot-water heaters. Money is also available for insulation and other ways to make homes more energy-efficient.

Reservations can be made through the website http://www.rechargecolorado.com or the call center, 1-800-462-0184.
