Colo. man ticketed for allegedly starting N.M. fire

MORA, N.M. ” A Colorado man has been issued a warning ticket for improper handling of fire after authorities learned exhaust from his truck sparked a 16,600-acre blaze in northeastern New Mexico.

The cause of the Ojo Feliz Fire, which was fully contained Tuesday nearly a week after it started, was determined accidental, Dan Ware, a spokesman for the state Forestry Division, said Wednesday.

Ware declined to identify the Trinidad, Colo., man. The Mora County Sheriff’s Department that issued the ticket was not immediately available to comment Wednesday.
