Colo. Sen. Bennet gets Finance Committee seat

The Associated Press

DENVER (AP) – Colorado U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet is getting a seat on the Senate Finance Committee after agreeing to run the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

The Denver Post reported Wednesday (http://bit.ly/RpKw7s ) that Bennet was granted the committee assignment. Two Democrats, Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico and Kent Conrad of North Dakota, are leaving the committee after retiring.

Bennet was elected in 2010. He is a member of the so-called “Gang of Eight,” Republicans and Democrats trying to work on the fiscal crisis.

Last week, Bennet agreed to run the campaign committee, which will raise funds to elect and re-elect Senate Democrats, including Colorado’s Mark Udall, in 2014.
