High-profile coyote attacks have prompted state wildlife officials to take a look at how best to control the animals.
Last week, the Denver suburb of Greenwood Village approved a plan to shoot and kill coyotes wandering the city’s parks, greenbelts and watersheds. The town says there were nearly 200 coyote sightings last year, and a 14-year-old boy was attacked by a coyote in December.
A pair of coyotes attacked a woman in Broomfield northwest of Denver last month, but her dog chased them off.
Currently, state Division of Wildlife officials track and kill only coyotes that attack humans. Wildlife experts will talk Wednesday about whether that policy should be expanded.
