Colorado Ski Country seeks talented fourth graders

Daily News staff report

Colorado Ski Country USA is seeking fourth-graders around the state to submit entries for the 2005-2006 Colorado Fifth Grade Passport art contest. Entries must be submitted by June 1, 2005.

The winning design will be used in promotional materials for next year’s Colorado Fifth Grade Passport.

The Fifth Grade Passport is a free program available to any fifth grader.

Valid for the entire season, the Fifth Grade Passport offers three free days at 23 member resorts, equaling 69 free days of skiing and riding on Colorado slopes. It also includes special offers from resorts and retail outlets for discounted equipment, lessons, lift tickets and other activities available to the whole family. The Passport is valued at over $3,000.

The challenge to all fourth graders is to submit artwork depicting the meaning of skiing or snowboarding in Colorado. The artwork should be a minimum of 5 inches by 7 inches and no larger than 9 inches by 12 inches.

Markers, paint, and crayons are all acceptable mediums. Bright colors are best. The artwork should be drawn on white paper and un-mounted. Vertical layout works best.

Artwork should be submitted to CSCUSA Art Contest, 1507 Blake St., Denver, CO 80202. Submission must include name, age, address, telephone number and school name.

The winner will receive a ski or snowboard package courtesy of Colorado Ski and Golf and three runners-up will receive two lift tickets to a Colorado resort.

More information about the Fifth Grade Passport and Graduate Pass can be found at http://www.coloradoski.com.

Questions about the art contest can be directed to Jamie Robinson, Colorado Ski Country USA, at (303) 837-0793.
