Colorado stops oversize vehicles, construction for eclipse
August 18, 2017
DENVER — Colorado is barring oversize vehicles from its highways and stopping road construction projects to help keep traffic flowing leading up to and after Monday's solar eclipse.
Highways in northern Colorado are expected to busy with vehicles headed to Wyoming, one of 14 states where the full eclipse will be visible.
The Colorado Department of Transportation says oversize and overweight vehicles won't be allowed between Thursday and Wednesday. Construction work will be suspended from Friday afternoon through Tuesday morning.
Traffic is expected to be busy all weekend but probably even worse when everyone heads home after the eclipse.
