Enrollment for Colorado’s 2025-26 Universal Preschool Program is officially open.

Applications for the program, which launched in 2023 and offers up to 15 hours per week of free preschool, opened on Dec. 17 and will accept applications through early March.

According to the governor’s office, families saved an average of $6,100 during the program’s first year and are estimated to earn up to 20% more each year because the program allows parents to stay in the workforce. Nearly seven out of 10 eligible four-year-olds in Colorado were served in 2023.

Families can apply for the 2025-26 Universal Preschool Program online at UPK.Colorado.gov

Families will be notified to accept or decline their matches between February and March, depending on when the application was submitted. Those unable to secure a spot may also directly enroll with providers throughout the school year as space becomes available.
