Colorado woman flees alleged kidnapper in Utah
PROVO, Utah – Police in Provo, Utah, say a California man has been arrested on accusations that he raped a woman he had kidnapped from Colorado.
Police identified the man as 49-year-old Winston Lacourse of Desert Hot Springs. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
The 19-year-old woman told police she met the man Monday in Denver and accepted his offer for a ride to her cousin’s home in Colorado. Instead, she says the man assaulted her, drove her to Utah and raped her at least twice before she escaped.
Police say that after the suspect and accuser stopped in an open field Wednesday, the suspect fell asleep and the woman ran to a nearby home. Police arrested the suspect as he slept.
