Colorado writer Ed Quillen dead at 62

DENVER (AP) – Colorado writer and humorist Ed Quillen has died. He was 62.

According to his family, Quillen died unexpectedly on Sunday. Funeral arrangements were not available.

Quillen was a longtime columnist for the Denver Post and a prolific writer, working for a number of Western Slope publications since 1974.



He wrote or co-wrote several books, including “Deep in the Heart of the Rockies,” and “Out the Back, Down the Path: Colorado Outhouses.”

He often wrote about life in the Colorado Rockies, its quirky characters and his love of isolation and western independence.
