Community garden art contest

Summit County residents are forming a community garden with the help of the Town of Silverthorne, which will be donating a parcel of land south of the Recreation Center on Rainbow Drive. Other generous initial sponsors for this project include: Neil’s Lunceford, Inc., Landscape-Nursery, Baker Hogan Houx BigHorn Materials, and the Summit Prevention Alliance via a Live Well Colorado grant.

Creative community members of all ages are being sought to design a logo for the new community garden. The community garden Steering Committee encourages the use of any flat media (excluding photography and clip art from commercial sources I.E.: Microsoft Clip Art and other pre-built mediums). Submissions should include use of color and imagination. The Community Garden motto is “Columbines, Carrots and Community ” Growing Together.” All ages are invited to submit logo designs.

One piece of artwork will be selected a $50 gift certificate to Neil’s Lunceford will be awarded to the winner. Interested artists should visit http://www.silvanascommunitygardens.org, or call (970) 262-7205.

Along with the submission, the artist needs to include their name, signature, age, phone number, and email if applicable.

Submissions must be turned into the Silverthorne Town Hall no later than 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 30, at 601 Center Circle in Silverthorne.

All submissions will be displayed at Town Hall and winners will be announced by July 11, 2008. Submission should be presented in their raw form, the Committee will scan the winning submission for reproducible content. Once selected, the artwork will be used in a variety of multimediums, not limited to: letterheads, posters, fliers, website, T-shirts, and other promotional items.
