Community invited to CMC Tech Symposia July 28

Colorado Mountain College invites the community to the free CMC Tech Symposia scheduled for 6 -9:30 p.m. July 28, at the college’s auditorium in Breckenridge.

The event will include informational talks on current tech topics by professionals and faculty members, networking opportunities and an overview of the college’s updated information technology associate degree and certificate program.

The keynote speaker will be Chuck Little, a senior security engineer who has more than 15 years of experience in the information security field. Little has extensive knowledge and experience in intrusion detection and prevention, penetration testing, forensics and security evangelism.

The agenda includes:

• 6-7 p.m., A Day in the Life of an IT Tech: A panel discussion on what activities constitute the scope of work for IT professionals

• 7-7:15 p.m., Overview of the IT Associate of Applied Science degree and certificates at Colorado Mountain College

• 7:15-8 p.m., Meet and Greet; representatives from local IT companies will be on hand

* 8-9:30 p.m., Phishing, Fake AV, Social Engineering: What does it all mean to me? Security engineer Little will discuss how spear phishing attacks from cyber criminals are shaped and how computer users can avoid them.
