Community meeting set Monday on hiring of new high school principal

FRISCO – The school district will hold a community meeting at 6 p.m. Monday about the hiring process for a new Summit High School principal. School officials will be looking for comment on what the community desires in a replacement for principal Frank Mencin, who is retiring in June.Officials are meeting with education stakeholders, including teachers, staff, parents, administrators and community members to gain input on leadership needs and expectations. “The board of education and I feel that the hiring of a new high school principal is one of the most important tasks we have in front of us at this time,” said superintendent Millie Hamner. “Input we’ve gathered so far shows that our community would like to see someone who is committed to staying in this position for the long haul.”Jan. 4, 2005, is the closing date for applications. Interviews will be conducted the week of Jan. 17, and a recommendation will be made to the school board at its Feb. 9 meeting.
