Mi Casa’s Cinco de Mayo to benefit BOEC

BRECKENRIDGE – Mi Casa Restaurant and Cantina in Breckenridge will hold its 20th annual Cinco de Mayo celebration to benefit the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC).

The fundraiser begins at 5 p.m. May 5 and will feature an all-you-can-eat buffet, silent auction, live music provided by the band Exit 232 and a midnight drawing for a trip for two to Mexico. The cost is $17 for adults and $5 for kids under 12.

Silent auction items include ski passes to each of Summit County’s four ski areas, a signed John Elway jersey, rounds of golf, a ride in a biplane and other prizes. The auction will run from 5-9:30 p.m.

Menu items include duck quesadillas with mango red chile sauce, chicken quesadilla with roasted tomato salsa, grilled yellowfin tuna tostadas, rock shrimp and scallop salad, chile rellenos topped with Spanish sauce, traditional tamales, pumpkin seed-encrusted tilapia, steak roulade with chimichurri sauce, rock shrimp Veracruz and various desserts.

Breck clean-up day set for May 10

BRECKENRIDGE – Breckenridge town officials are looking for volunteers to man drop stations during the town’s annual Town Clean-up Day May 10.

The event, which goes from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., involves short shifts and easy duties, said Ken Miller of the Breckenridge Resort Chamber. Volunteers direct citizens to trash bins, recycling bins and other sites as they bring in trash, recyclables and other things they find as they help clean up the town after the snow melts.

Miller also is looking for prize donations for the volunteer raffle.

A barbecue and party is scheduled for all volunteers at Carter Park after the clean-up.

To volunteer or donate a raffle prize, call Miller at (970) 453-2913, ext. 210.
