12th annual holiday mixer at the Holiday Inn Tuesday, December 10

SUMMIT COUNTY – The Summit County Chamber will hold its 12th annual holiday mixer at the Frisco Holiday Inn Tuesday, Dec. 10. Holiday Inn and Resort Express will sponsor the event and provide appetizers and spirits. Be sure to bring lots of business cards for giveaways, and don’t forget a nonperishable food item for the Summit County Chamber’s annual food drive. Bring the kids. Santa will be making a list of Christmas wishes, and children ages 12 and under get in free. Admission is $10 per person, with a portion of the proceeds going toward a gift drive for local children in need. The December Mixer also is sponsored by Quality Quick Print, Krystal 93, The Summit Daily News and KSMT.

interest group to meet Dec. 11

SUMMIT COUNTY – The Summit County Chamber of Commerce is forming a new group, “Celebrando y Hablando Negocios,” for interested members and prospective new members of the Spanish-speaking business community.

The group is planning its first mixer 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 from at La Costa Mexican restaurant in Frisco Station Shopping Center.

It is open to members of the Hispanic business community who want to meet and network with their peers.

Ancient Bethlehem

marketplace set

for Buena Vista

BUENA VISTA – The First Baptist Church of Buena Vista is pleased to present the Bethlehem Marketplace on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13 and 14, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each evening, at 608 South San Juan Avenue in Buena Vista.

Enjoy a walk back in time to ancient Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the activities of the people in the bustling city where all had come for the census. The walk-through drama is sure to please young and old, with almost 150 cast members, live animals, fresh fruits and bread, and merchants of old selling their wares. With murmurs of an extraordinary event and a strange star in the sky.

Local birders to

participate in Audubon Christmas Bird Count

SUMMIT COUNTY – Summit County birders will participate in the National Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count Saturday, Dec. 14. Volunteers will meet at the Summit County Community and Senior Center at the County Commons in Frisco at 7:30 a.m. The group will divide into teams and set out to cover areas around Breckenridge, Frisco, Silverthorne or Dillon and will count numbers and species of birds in a 15 mile total area.

The information the birders gather will help local and national wildlife biologists track trends in bird populations and in the general health of the environment.

The count is open to birders of all skill levels. A $5 Audubon participation fee will be collected for adults over 18. Binoculars are needed. For more information, contact Sue at (970) 262-3456.
