Kids fly-fishing clinic set for June 7

BRECKENRIDGE – Breckenridge Outfitters fishing guides are hosting a free fly-fishing clinic for kids 8-18 from 9:30 a.m. to noon June 7 at the Riverwalk Center.

Guides will offer instruction in casting, entomology (bugs), fly-tying and river systems with discussions on water conservation and angling etiquette. The clinic will be followed with a free lunch at Fatty’s Pizzeria.

The guides will provide equipment. Other information and sign-up is available online at Those interested in attending should register soon, as there is limited space in the clinic.


BOEC offers free day of team-building programs June 6

BRECKENRIDGE – The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) in Breckenridge is offering a free day of team-building and leadership programs on Friday, June 6, for business owners, directors, managers, human resource professionals, corporate trainers and decision makers. This is a great chance to experience how a BOEC program can help your company’s productivity, cohesiveness and morale.

The program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include a presentation on the BOEC, a tour of the campus, sample team initiatives, lunch, an afternoon ropes course, professional facilitation and more. Discount lodging is available Thursday through Sunday in Breckenridge.

Volunteer for Summit Huts and earn a night’s stay

SUMMIT COUNTY – Earn one free night in the Hutmasters Quarters at a Summit Huts-owned or -managed hut for each day of volunteering to work on Summit Huts.

Francie’s Cabin volunteer days will be July 24-26. Sign up for all or one or two days to stack and chop wood as well as to give the cabin a good scrub-down to prepare for the busy winter season.

Volunteers should bring work gloves, sunscreen, bug repellent, a water bottle, rain gear, lunch and snacks. Volunteers may stay overnight at the cabin and should provide their own food.

Volunteer days for the Section House/Ken’s Cabin are tentatively scheduled for Oct. 4-5. These dates are dependent on weather and could possibly change.

Janet’s Cabin tentative volunteer days are set for Sept. 27-28.

Volunteers needed for golf classic

SUMMIT COUNTY – Volunteers are needed for the NFL/Bronco Alumni Rocky Mountain Golf Classic, scheduled for June 12-15 at The Breckenridge Golf Club and The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions:

– Scorekeepers – all day, Friday and Saturday. It is best if you are available for both days. Call Jen Radueg at (970) 485-1811.

– Hospitality – various hours throughout the week and weekend; must be organized and knowledgeable about getting around Summit County.

– Games for Sunday Picnic – Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help organize games for kids (e.g. sack races, egg toss and relay, tug-of-war).

– General – various duties from June 11 through June 15, including pick-up and deliveries and decorating.
