Congress should not have given up its war powers

Kudos to Sandi Bruns for her letter expressing her dismay at the policies of the Bush administration in promoting a pre-

emptive war against Iraq.

We did not elect President Bush, or Vice President Cheney, or Karl Rove, Bush’s chief political adviser. Congress should not have given up its constitutionally delegated power to declare war.

We, the USA, resemble the fascist nations of the 1930s as we plan a war against a people who never harmed us S in pursuit of power and oil. What arrogance, what unabashed imperialist war-mongering, what pursuit of folly.

Let us at least not stand silently stunned as the Germans did when Hitler marched. Let us write our congress people. Let us protest. Let us speak out before it is too late.
