March 15, 2003
SUMMIT COUNTY – U.S. Congressman Mark Udall, D-Colo., has tapped longtime aide Dan Gibbs as a field director to run his Western Slope office in Minturn.
Gibbs will be responsible for remaining in contact with Udall’s constituents in Eagle, Summit and Grand counties.
“Dan is a tremendous asset to my team, and I know he will use his vast interpersonal skills, energy and enthusiasm to benefit the Western Slope portion of the Second Congressional District,” Udall said.
As a member of Udall’s staff for the past three years, Gibbs has been a congressional assistant in the Westminster district office, most recently as the congressman’s chief legislative correspondent and assistant on transportation, education, welfare and housing issues. He also worked on Udall’s re-election effort in 2002.
Gibbs has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Western State College in Gunnison, where he was a member of the Western State Mountain Rescue Team. He is an ultra-marathon runner, a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and serves on the Congressional Legislative Staff Association Board of Directors.
Gibbs will report directly to Udall and his Chief of Staff, Alan Salazar, who is a native of Leadville. Udall’s Senior Legislative Counsel, Stan Sloss, is also a Western Slope native from Glenwood Springs.
