Consideration needed to separate skiers and too-fast snowboarders

Regarding skier safety and too-fast boarders: I agree. Skiing and boarding are two different sports, and some serious consideration needs to be made as to separation of speeding boarders, if that is possible.

I recall many years ago when snowboards first arrived on the scene and the many opinions expressed at that time concerning the future mixing of the two sports and the injuries to be expected.

Just this last week at Breckenridge, I had two close encounters with too-fast and uncomfortably-close boarders. One incident occurred at the base of an intermediate run 10 yards from the lift line entrance with the boarder weaving through the others proceeding normally towards the line.

These people seem to crave speed and recklessness and should be policed and/or segregated.

I otherwise enjoyed my week at Breckenridge and reading your newspaper each morning.
