Smoke and flames will be visible during prescribed burns near Breckenridge between Tuesday, Nov. 29, and Friday, Dec. 2, as crews work on wildfire mitigation on a 90-acre site.

The burns will take place at the Wellington Open Space near French Gulch Road. Roads and trails in the area will remain open to users throughout the burn operations.

Summit County Resource Specialist Jordan Mead will be sending updates each day and confirm ignitions each day before burning.

Smoke from prescribed burns can affect people’s health. Smoke-sensitive individuals can contact Mead at jordan.mead@summitcountyco.gov for notification prior to burning operations.

More information about the Wellington hazardous fuels reduction project can be found on the county’s website, SummitCountyCO.gov.
