Cooper opens Thanksgiving Day

LEADVILLE – Ski Cooper ski area near Leadville will open Thanksgiving Day, officials announced this week.

The ski area will be open Fridays through Sundays through Dec. 13, at which point officials will open the ski area seven days a week through March 30.

“We’re really excited to see all this snow early,” said Anne Dougherty, public relations director for the area. “This is the best opening-day base we’ve had in several years.”

The business office will be open Thanksgiving morning and all day Friday and Saturday for season pass photos.

Updated amenities at the ski area include a new race arena on Powder Puff. The trail will be open to the general public on non-race days. The Nastar course also has been moved to the new race arena area.

Backcountry ski tours on Chicago Ridge begin Dec. 14.
