Copper Creek gets high rating from Golf Digest

Don Cameron

COPPER MOUNTAIN – Interest in golf is booming in Summit County. While the county can’t boast the quantity of courses in other regions of the state, the quality certainly is there. That quality got a boost from Golf Digest magazine. Copper Creek, Copper Mountain’s championship golf course, was recently awarded a 3 1/2 star rating from Golf Digest. The award recognizes Copper Creek as one of the top courses in the country, demonstrating outstanding achievement. Copper Creek was included in the 2000-01 edition of Golf Digest’s Places to Play. More than 20,000 players used regionalized ballots that invited them to play courses within their area and rate them. They were asked to base the courses on five main criteria: overall golf experience, value for their money, standard of service at the facility, conditioning of the course and normal pace of play for an 18-hole round.
