Copper Mountain ready to take on summer, visitors
Beginning today and nearly every weekend throughout the summer Copper Mountain will host events catering to athletes, yogis, music lovers and families. A sampling of events include the Wanderlust Yoga & Music Festival, plus returning favorites like Warrior Dash, Courage Classic, Copper Triangle, and the Guitar Town and Copper Country music festivals. Most events such as the 3Ring Weekend are free to the public and provide kid-oriented activities and music. The season opened Thursday with the 2012 BMW Riders Association 40th International Rally, bringing incredible BMW machines of all types, sizes and models to Copper Mountain Village to enjoy some of the best riding in the country.Enjoy the soulful sounds of Colorado favorite Angie Stevens tonight with a free concert in Burning Stones Plaza from 5 – 7. Melding influences of alt-country, indie-rock, contemporary folk and pop, Stevens is an Americana artist with soul-bearing, live performances that have captured audiences across the country.Summer resort highlights include a Summer Day Activities Pass ($39) or Summer Season Activities Pass ($69) giving unlimited access to the quad bungee jump, climbing wall, mini-golf, scenic chairlift rides, bumper boats, paddle boats and bike haul, plus restricted access to Summit County’s only go-kart course. The Alpine Rush Zip Line is Copper’s newest attraction, sure to provide thrills for kids of all ages with its dueling-design, allowing two riders to fly side-by-side over Copper’s West Lake. The ride travels 300 feet across the lake, reaches a height of 30 feet and is open to anyone whose weight is between 50 and 250 pounds. The zip line launch pad is on the Sugar Lips Mini Donuts patio deck.FAC (Fridays at Copper) offer families a full day of entertainment. Guests will receive a Free FAC Activities Pass with every $30 spent at Copper retail stores and restaurants. Relax with free live music from 5 – 7 p.m. followed by a movie in Copper’s Burning Stones Outdoor Theater at dusk. FAC begins June 29 and continues most Fridays throughout the summer.Copper Creek Golf Course offers green fees starting at $29 – $39 for twilight tee times plus discounted mid-week rates. JJ’s Rocky Mountain Tavern, located next to the course, offers daily drink specials and an $8 BBQ lunch special every Friday.Additional free activities in and around Copper Mountain include disc golf, road cycling, mountain biking and hiking (lift access for a fee). Copper Activities are open from 10am – 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 5pm on Sundays.Later in June, Woodward introduces an all-new Freeride Mountain Bike Camp where campers will ride Copper Mountain’s lift-accessed terrain and some of the best public bike parks in Colorado including the Frisco Bike Park. Developed and coached by freeride mountain bike pro Sasha Yakovleff, the camp will focus on downhill, dirt jump and all aspects of freeriding through a series of safe and fun progressions.Another innovative Woodward offering for the summer camp season is a Digital Media Camp focused solely on video production. This weeklong program gives campers the opportunity to build filmmaking skills and knowledge. Instructors will teach skills in composition, exposure, focusing, lighting and video editing. For editing, campers will be assigned to an iMAC computer to learn the details of Final Cut Pro HD studio editing software. Campers will live and eat at Copper’s EDGE building, which is located right down the road from the Woodward Barn.
