Although it just closed for the winter season on Sunday, May 11, Copper Mountain Resort has already shifted its focus to summer operations, which will officially begin on Friday, June 20.

From a host of activities to free live concerts, Copper offers something for everyone during the short, but sweet summer season in the Colorado High Country.

Starting on Friday, June 20, Copper activities will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. All resort activities will be based out of Center Village with the American Eagle chairlift open for scenic rides and bike hauls Friday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

Guests can purchase a summer activity pass which provides access to a full day of mountain activities. An individual activity day pass is available for $79, and a family activity day pass for a family of four costs $249.

Each pass includes unlimited access to bumper boats on West Lake, scenic chairlift rides and the Wrecktangle ninja course along with three uses on the bungee trampoline, one ride on the Rocky Mountain Coaster and one session on the go-karts.

In terms of summer events, Copper will host several live musical performances throughout the season. Red, White & Brews Tunes will kick off the first of many events this summer, happening July 4-5 to celebrate Independence Day. Later in the summer, country music will take center stage at Copper Country on August 9.

To close out the summer, Union Peak Festival, a three-day event filled with free live music, mountain sports and community gatherings, will happen from Sept. 5-7. For upcoming headliner announcements, visit CopperColorado.com.

Copper will also be hosting events at its mid-mountain lodge — the Aerie — throughout the summer. Every Thursday, guests can take advantage of free scenic chairlift rides on the American Eagle lift all day. Then at 3 p.m., guests are invited to stick around at the lodge and enjoy live music and happy hour specials during Apres at Aerie.

Copper continues to improve and expand its mountain bike offerings. This summer, intermediate flow trail “Gopher It” will open with top-to-bottom access for the first time ever. “Soil Test,” a beginner-friendly green downhill trail, will also debut with top-to-bottom access, offering 4.5-miles of approachable terrain.

Additionally, a brand-new advanced downhill trail will open this summer, adding 1.34-miles of fresh, challenging terrain to the network of trails. Riders can purchase a mountain bike haul season pass for $249 or opt for a single-day haul ticket for $49.

Prior to full summer operations starting up, the Copper Creek Golf Course will open on June 6. The course features 18, picturesque holes with the slopes, the Gore Range and the Tenmile Range serving as a backdrop.

Copper also plans to offer a summer hike-to terrain park this season. The park is scheduled to open June 6 and will be open Friday through Sunday. Conditions permitting, the course will close on Sept. 7. The hike-to park costs $25 a day or $199 for a season pass. Rail jams are set to take place on July 5 and Sept. 5.
