Copper to host rail jam on Friday

Skiers and riders can work off holiday pounds by competing in the second annual Leftover Yam and Jive Turkey Jam at Copper on Friday. The free rail jam is being presented by Gravitee Snowboard Shop and will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the American Eagle Jib Park, located at the top of the American Eagle lift. It is open to both men and women professional and amateur snowboarders and skiers. Registration runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Jack’s Bar in The Village at Copper. An awards ceremony will follow the competition at 1:30 p.m. in the jib park. There will be cash purse awards for the top three competitors in both men’s and women’s categories including a $250 prize for first place, $150 for second place and $50 for third. A Rome Artifact snowboard is also up for grabs to the athlete who impresses the judges with the best overall trick.Competitors will be judged by pro members of the Copper Mountain Freeride Team on style and tricks in a jam format.
