Cops looking into Silverthorne cat shooting

SILVERTHORNE – A man got a surprise last week when he took his cat to the veterinarian, and the animal doctor found a hole in the cat’s head.

According to a Silverthorne Police Department report, Michael Nichelson let his cat, Killer, out of the house in the 700 block of Blue River Parkway Oct. 21. When he let the cat back in, he noticed blood on the side of the cat’s head. Two days later, the report said, Nichelson took Killer to a veterinarian. The vet shaved the side of the cat’s head and discovered a BB pellet-sized hole.

Nichelson told police that neighborhood children often shoot BB guns at beer cans and had damaged his property in the past. Staff at the Silverthorne Police Department said officers’ attempts to contact the children or gather any more information on the incident were not successful.
