Coroner: Professor died of hypothermia, was intoxicated

FORT COLLINS – A sociology professor whose body was found outside a church died from hypothermia while she was intoxicated, the coroner said Monday.Patricia Wilkins-Wells, 59, was found partially buried in the snow outside the Foothills Unitarian-Universalist Church on Jan. 28. She had been reported missing on Jan. 2.Larimer County coroner’s investigator Maury Miller said the death was an accident. He did not release her blood-alcohol level but said her intoxication was “acute.”Wilkins-Wells, of Fort Collins, taught at the University of Northern Colorado. She also taught online classes for Colorado State in Fort Collins.
