Cowboy Junkies kick off Blue River Series in Breckenridge

BRECKENRIDGE ” The Breckenridge Music Festival will present Cowboy Junkies with special guest Monahans as part of the Blue River Series at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The Cowboy Junkies were formed in 1985 in Toronto and is comprised of its four original members. The Cowboy Junkies music is grounded in traditional country, blues, and folk, yet also bears the stamp of the Velvet Underground with spare and quiet tempos.

In June of 2007, Cowboy Junkies performed alongside the Boston Pops at Boston Symphony Hall conducted by Keith Lockhart. The program was titled Edgefest, and was a successful musical collaboration with the orchestra. Also In 2007 they released “Trinity Revisited,” a re-recording of the album “The Trinity Session” featuring guest artists Ryan Adams, Vic Chesnutt, Natalie Merchant and Jeff Bird.

The Cowboy Junkies have toured North America, Europe, Japan and Australia and in 2001 alone they performed at 108 different venues in 15 countries.
