Westbound travel is back in motion after a crash closed Interstate 70 between the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels and Silverthorne following a crash, according to CoTrip.org. The roadway reopened around 1:25 p.m., but traffic was still backed up east of the tunnels according to traffic cameras at CoTrip.org.
The closure was put in place due to “safety concerns” following a multi-vehicle crash, and traffic was being held at the tunnel, according to a Colorado Department of Transportation alert.
A snowstorm is moving through Colorado, causing snow to fall at elevations above 10,000 feet, which may cause the roadways over mountain passes to be slick.
