Greeley fourth-grade teacher arrested on child sex assault charges

A Frontier Academy fourth-grade teacher has been arrested on child sexual assault charges.

Katerina Bardos, 24, was arrested Wednesday by Greeley police on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a felony. She was released the same day on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond, according to court records.

Upon further investigation by Greeley police, Bardos was arrested again Thursday on suspicion of the added charges of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and sexual assault on a child with a pattern of abuse, both felonies. As of Friday morning, Bardos remained in custody at Weld County Jail without bond.

During an executive committee meeting Thursday night, Frontier Academy Elementary School Principal Dr. Bradford Every said Bardos was terminated as of Wednesday.

Courts clerks are redacting the names of the victims and witnesses from Bardos’ arrest affidavit. This story will be updated once those records become available.

Bardos is scheduled to appear in district court for a bond hearing at 1 p.m. today.
