CSU offers seedling workshop

CSU Cooperative Extension Summit County is offering two free workshops from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, March 24, at the County Commons near Frisco for those who have placed seedling orders with the cooperative extension office. From 3-5 p.m. Dr. Curt Swift will present information on root systems, soil preparation, nutrient uptake, plant hormones and the relationship of roots to branches and leaves. From 5-7 p.m. assistant district forester Ron Cousineau will discuss forest health in relationship to the current local pine beetle epidemic. He will present options for reforestation through natural regeneration and tree planting.The workshops cost $5 to cover handouts. This fee will be rebated with all seedling tree orders. Deadline for seedling tree orders is April. Seedling tree pickup is on May 3 at the County Shop Road in Frisco.
