Current Affairs Forum to address the green movement

BRECKENRIDGE – The second event of the Colorado Mountain College/Keystone Center Current Affairs Forum series – titled “The Current State of the Environmental Movement Two Years into the Bush Administration” – will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Keystone Center, 1628 Sts. John Road in Keystone.

This free event features speakers with varying perspectives on environmentalism in the United States.

Greg Wetstone is director of programs at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). He coordinated NRDC’s campaign to defend environmental statutes in Congress and has authored books and articles on environmental protection and pollution-control laws.

Howard Ris is president of the Union of Concerned Scientists, overseeing all of the organization’s research, public education and legislative programs.

He is an expert on global-warming issues and served on the Energy and Transportation Task Force of the Council on Sustainable Development in the Clinton administration.

These viewpoints will be augmented by a representative from industry, Elizabeth A. Lowery, vice president for environment and energy for General Motors.
