Cycling event a great success

Chris Hart

“Wow – what a day!” “This is huge!” “We’re having so much fun.” “This is the biggest event of the year!”

Those were the actual comments from the 2002 Saturn Cycling Classic. Smiles on the faces of everyone participating! Guests and residents alike enjoying the festival atmosphere. Thousands of bells ringing – thousands of visitors on the street – and the business of Breckenridge was good.

In reference to the Aug. 13 Summit Daily News article “Sales down during Saturn race, some merchants say,” it was good to read comments from certain businesses that they appreciate the long-term benefits an event like this brings to Breckenridge. Businesses like that understand and are aware of the national media and marketing generated by such an event. Businesses like this love to see their customers – both current and future – having a fantastic experience on a beautiful summer day.

Our guests come to Breckenridge for specific reasons. They come for outdoor activities, they come for the town, they come for the resorts, they come for events, they come for shows, they come for music, and they come for culture. They come here for fun, and for the experience.

The 2002 Saturn Cycling Classic was a perfect event on a perfect day – and for the record, our company had phenomenal business all weekend long.
