Dam Road projected to reopen by Friday afternoon

SUMMIT COUNTY ” The Dillon Dam Road, which has been closed to public access ” including the bike and rec path ” for a week as of today, is scheduled to reopen Friday afternoon upon the work crew’s completion of the final steps in the rock-scaling and mitigation project.

The rock wall by the Glory Hole became too great of a danger to allow the road to remain open, according to Summit County Road and Bridge Director John Polhemus, as recent evidence of large rockfalls grew apparent along the guard rails and from new cracks in the road’s surface.

The scaling work is likely to end today, and the road crew will probably reinsert the Jersey curbs on Thursday and Friday morning.
