David Wilcox to perform benefit concert Thursday

SILVERTHORNE – Singer and songwriter David Wilcox will perform Thursday at the Silverthorne Pavilion in a special benefit concert for the High Country Conservation Center, a local nonprofit formerly called Summit Recycling Project.Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Silverthorne Recreation Center or at the High Country Conservation office in Frisco. Thanks to the generous support of Chuck Lenzmeier and Valerie Williams, all proceeds from the concert with benefit the High Country Conservation Center’s waste reduction and resource conservation programs.Wilcox has produced 11 albums and will be returning to Summit County to perform his combination of acoustic guitar and story-telling songs. Wilcox has been compared to James Taylor, but has his own sound and song-writing style.”We are so pleased to have David Wilcox performing a benefit concert for our organization,” said High Country Conservation Center director Carly Wier. “Not only are his songs beautiful and inspiring, but he drives a biodiesel bus!”Wilcox and his wife recently sold their home and many of their belongings. They hit the road with their 12-year-old son, Nathan, for 18 months of travel in their Airstream trailer, pulled by their biodiesel truck, which has been modified to use waste vegetable oil as fuel.For more information, contact High Country Conservation Center at (970) 668-5703.
