Day of philanthropy at Loveland Ski Area today

Two benefits are happening at Loveland today – the Cancer League of Colorado fundraiser and the New Belgium Scavenger Hunt.

The scavenger hunt benefits the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado, and is designed to add a different component to a day of skiing. Clues, challenges, riddles and more await participants on scorecards.

In years past, participants have had to find, race and win against the Easter Bunny, take a photo with Bigfoot and beat New Belgium staffers at a life-sized Connect Four at the base area, Loveland spokesman John Sellers said.

The race begins at 10 a.m., with registration at 9, and scorecards must be submitted by 3 p.m. A post-party including New Belgium beer and awards is slated for after the event. Sellers said those under 21 can participate in the hunt.

It costs $10 plus a lift ticket, and discounted lift tickets are available at $35 each for participants.

The Cancer League of Colorado fundraiser costs $70, $35 of which goes to the philanthropy. It includes a barbecue lunch at Ptarmigan Cabin, drink tickets and live music. It’s only $35 for season pass-holders.
