Dead body found near Granby, top Colorado detectives called in to investigate
The Colorado Bureau of Investigations is currently investigating a dead body discovered in Grand County Wednesday morning. Investigators believe the death was not the result of natural causes.
At around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Grand County 911 dispatchers received a report of a possible deceased person who was discovered by a resident of the Lakeview Condo Complex, which is near the southeast edge of the Town of Granby. The body was found lying on the resident’s patio. According to a press release issued by the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, the resident “wasn’t sure if the person was still breathing.”
Multiple local agencies responded to the call, including the sheriff’s office, Granby police and Grand County EMS. Upon arrival, officers and deputies found an unidentified body near the rear of the building. The scene was then closed off.
Grand County Sheriff Brett Schroetlin formally requested the Colorado Bureau of Investigations (CBI) send their Crime Scene Unit to assist in the investigation. CBI, the Coroner’s Office and the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office were still on scene late Wednesday afternoon and were working from a Mobile Command Post provided by the East Grand Fire Protection District.
