Dear Summit County community,

Sincerely, Douglas Mendel

A big thank you to the community who came to the spaghetti fundraiser at RWB fire station in Breckenridge 9/8/11. Almost $2,000 was raised during the evening. The funds raised that evening as well as other donations have me 80% to the $10k goal to buy the ’77 American La France 50′ Ladder Fire Truck from Fairplay.

The business’s and individuals that donated food, silent auction items and linen are Mi Casa, Blue River Bistro, Giampietro’s, Salt Creek Saloon, Sysco Foods, Shamrock Foods, Motherloaded Tavern, Windy City Pizza, Subway, Fatty’s, Luchas, Breckenridge Brewery, Downstairs at Eric’s, Southern Wine and Spirits, Arapahoe Basin, Mountain Anglers, Christy Sports, Sun Logic, Crossfit of Breck, Blue River Sports, Zoes, Lynne Drakos, Kevin Abernathy, Knight Accounting, Harvest Catering, Alsco Linen, Base Mountain Sports and Matt Blake at Mi Casa for doing all the cooking.

The event couldn’t have happened without the amazing support of Kim Scott and the firefighters at RWB Fire Station in Breckenridge for allowing the station to be used for the fundraiser. Also a huge thank you to Tracey Roach at Mi Casa for organizing the fundraiser.

I didn’t have the foresight to know that my competition was the first game of the regular season of the NFL and Obama’s speech. So for anyone that couldn’t attend, but would still like to support this cause can mail a check to: Douglas Mendel Cambodian Relief Fund, P.O. Box 410 Silverthorne, CO 80498.

The support of Summit County is greatly appreciated!
