Deceptive attack on Joan Fitz-Gerald motivates campaigner

Editor’s note: This letter to the Colorado at Its Best and Business

Education Fund, organizations pumping out anti-Joan Fitz-Gerald mailings with deceptive hot-button topics, was provided for publication.

I’ve never been involved actively in a state Senate campaign, and I was surprised by your mailings that suggest Joan Fitz-Gerald opposes the Pledge of Allegiance, supports pornography in schools, is responsible for the state’s debt load and actively resists efforts to improve our economy, our kids’ education and the community good.

As a result of your mailings, I plan to spend Nov. 5 driving shut-ins to the polls, shut-ins and others who will vote for Fitz-Gerald. I know little about her campaign, but I know from the vitriol in your mailings, full of innuendo and half-truths, that you and your supporters must be dirtbags.

Shame on you and your negative ads – you’re part of what’s wrong with the electoral process, and why half the voters will stay home on Nov. 5.
